The Darkness of Twilight: Perils of Today's Vampire Craze

Newport, WA, Oct. 27 /White Horse Media/--The Twilight Saga of vampire romances, written by Stephenie Meyer, has mesmerized millions of today’s teens. Eerily, the idea started with a dream given to Meyer on June 1, 2003, and was later reconfirmed through a second dream in which the lead vampire character returned and scared Meyer out of her wits. “He was terrifying!” Meyer reports.

Published by Little, Brown and Company, Meyer’s four-part series (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn) rivals the popularity of Harry Potter. Summit Entertainment is making each novel into a movie, and the craze is stellar. Swirling around an intense love affair between a shy “mortal” teenager, Isabella Swan, and her 108-year-old “immortal” vampire lover, Edward Cullen, it’s a story of love, lust, vampires, werewolves, and “good verses evil.”

As can be expected, most view Twilight as grand entertainment, coupled with positive moral messages (Bella and Edward don’t have sex until after marriage), yet others are concerned about obvious occult influences, and rising real vampirism throughout society.

Steve Wohlberg is the Speaker/Director of White Horse Media (Newport, WA). TV producer, radio host, and the author of 23 books, he has been a guest on over 500 radio and television shows, has been featured twice on The History Channel series, The Nostradamus Effect, and has spoken by special invitation inside the Pentagon and U.S. Senate.

Wohlberg’s newest book, The Darkness of Twilight: Hidden Perils of Today’s Vampire Craze (Remnant Publications, 2009), explores the fictitious world of Hollywood movies and TV shows (Twilight, CW’s The Vampire Diaries, HBO’s True Blood), a very real “vampire subculture” now gaining momentum around the world, and its hidden perils.
